Unfortunately, Makena has been no stranger to the Dr's office this winter. Since November, she's been sick once a month. Every time, we take her to the Dr to see if something can be done. She's had an ear infection and strep throat but for the most part they just tell us it's a virus she'll have to work through on her own. Recently Ryan and I realized that her sicknesses have a pattern. She always gets sick on the 15th of the month (give or take a day), it always lasts 5 to 7 days and it always involves fevers higher than 104°.
Makena' birthday was April 16th. Anyone want to guess where we were on the 15th??? You guessed it....the Dr's office. We got a call from school to come pick up Makena because she had a fever. Since her birthday party was the next day we had to get her to the Dr immediately to see if she had anything contagious that would force us to cancel the festivities. Yet again, we were told that everything checked out fine and it was just another virus she would have to work through on her own. Luckily, we were able to time out Tylenol dosages so she would get one 30 minutes before her party started. Overall, she was a pretty happy girl for being sick....but by the time the party was over....she was laying on the couch with a fever again:(
I was happy her 2 year check-up was scheduled for the following Monday because after a long weekend of having to watch Makena be sick again, I was frustrated and ready to ask the pediatrician a ton of questions. Turns out Makena had an ear infection but appeared completely healthy otherwise! She's 27 lbs 4 oz (59th percentile), 35 1/2" tall (89th percentile) and her head circumference is 47.9 cm (62nd percentile). She meets or exceeds everything they look for in a girl her age. And, of course, it never hurts to hear the pediatrician tell you how smart and beautiful your little girl is!!!
