Mason Gets Tubes

Mason stayed ear infection free for most of the summer.  I really thought they were all behind us....until he got one the day we went to the Royals game.  As soon as they said ear infection, we knew that meant tubes were in our future.  I had already prepared myself for this, so I wasted no time getting Mason the soonest appt with Dr. Eyen.  This is the same doctor that took Makena's tonsils and adenoids out in May!

Dr. Eyen agreed tubes were needed and Mason's surgery was scheduled for 2 weeks later.  He was the youngest patient that day so he got to go first.  Which means we had to have him there by 6:15am....YIKES!!!  Mason was surprisingly very happy for a boy who was woken up early and not allowed to have any food or water;)

The surgery itself took no more than 15 minutes.  After we were given an update, it took another 15 minutes or so and then they called us back to be with him in recovery.  He had a pretty hard time waking up!  30 minutes of your baby crying and dry heaving can seem like hours....AWFUL!!!  Once we got home, Mason took a very long nap and when he woke up, he was back to playing and cuddling with his blankets.

Here's hoping tubes are the magic trick and there are no more ear infections in our future....or Mason's future rather:)
