What a great year it's been. Ryan and I have gone from not knowing anything about kids to knowing more than we ever imagined. Makena is full of smiles and easy going. She's really made our job as first time parents fairly simple! We're amazed at all the things she can do already. By her first birthday, Ryan and I thought she'd be getting ready to walk....not running around chasing Brinkley. It's so funny to hear Makena try to say things like ball, bubble and pupu.
Makena loves to show her belly, touch her toes, eat paper and remote controls, be the center of attention, share Cheerios with Brinkley, swing, take wagon rides, play with her friends, play peek-a-boo, give hugs and kisses, play bouncy-bouncy with Grandma, go shopping, take car rides, read books, drink from a regular cup, be held, take baths and sleep.
Makena does not love to have her finger nails filed, have her boogies sucked, get her diaper changed when she's playing with a great toy, eat beef, be told no and wake up in the morning.
Most recently, we decided to take formula and bottles away now that Makena is one! I can't believe the transition to whole milk and sippy cups was so easy. Turns out I was anxious about the whole thing for no reason....Makena could care less that bottles and formula are gone. Obviously the change affected me more than her:)
Even though it's only been a year, it's hard to remember what life was like before Makena came into our lives. Ryan and I just know we must have had a lot of extra time on our hands:) We love our little sugar-bugar so much and can't wait to see what the next year brings!!!!
