A Snow Storm in Spring

I can't believe we're at the end of March and got hit with another snow storm!!!  Giant flakes started to fall right before it got dark last night so we headed outside to play for a little bit.  This morning we had about 10 inches but it's still snowing so who knows what the final number will be.  Fingers crossed that this is it for snow!!!!  Bring on Spring.

1st Lamar's Donut

Last Sunday, Mason enjoyed his first Lamar's donut!  Blueberry cake.  He really liked the middle cake part but didn't like all the icing.  I love all the things he does just like his Mommy:)  I guess from now on we can pick the icing off together!!!

As I was typing this, I wondered if I documented Makena's first Lamar's donut!  I looked back through the blog and found it;)  She had her first donut at this same age and also had blueberry cake.  Too funny!!!

After breakfast, Mason also got to try painting for the first time.  His paper was very watery but he did a great job:)

Making the Best of Snow Days

We've had a lot of snow days this winter, which means a lot of indoor activities.  The kids never ask to go outside and play in the snow but are always really excited when I mention the idea!  We're all ready for warm weather so we can spend our nights and weekends outside.
IT'S OKAY THAT MASON DUMPS ALL THE CRAYONS OUT BECAUSE HE ALSO LOVES TO PICK THEM UP;)

New Bedtime Routine

For a while now, the kids have loved to play in the office after bath time.  I turn on some music so they can dance....well, Makena dances while Mason turns in circles;)  I know dance time is over when they both disappear to go get a stool.  Once they have their stools (which are placed in the exact same spot every night) they climb up and start jumping off.  The first jump is always Makena.  She then stands up, goes over to Mason to give him a short pep talk, a hug and a kiss and then we all watch as Mason takes his first jump of the night.  He loves how proud we are of him!!!!  This goes on...and on....and on.....and on;)  It's amazing how something so simple can keep them both entertained for so long.

The Gate is Gone!

It's a big day at our house!!!  The gate at the bottom of the stairs is G.O.N.E.  We kept telling Mason what a big boy he was so you can tell in the pictures, he was feeling very proud and excited!!!!

Ryan and I keep walking by the stairs saying "it looks so wierd!"  The gates been up since Makena was 9 months old so it will take a while for us to get used to how open it looks.  We still have a gate at the top of the stairs....I'm not really ready to let that one go yet;)

YEA...NO MORE GATE;)  MY BABIES ARE GROWING UP

Snow, Snow and More Snow

A week ago today, we got 13 inches of snow.  Then Monday night we got another 12 inches and 2 more inches on Tuesday night.  I don't like snow or winter so I'm not a fan of any of it;)  Makena hasn't asked to go outside and play in it at all.  She actually told me she can't wait for sun, popsicles and Royals games.  Ah, just like her Mommy!!!!

Poor Ryan!  He was able to use the snow blower to clear out last weeks snow but had to shovel this week because the snow was so heavy.  Every time he came in for a break, Makena told him what a great job he was doing;)  What a great motivator!!!!

Slumber Party....With Mommy & Daddy

Makena has really been SUCH a good girl lately!!!!  She was very excited when Daddy told her how impressed he was with her and offered to let her have a slumber party in our bed....complete with movies and popcorn;)  Seeing how excited she was and knowing how much she loved it made the whole night worth it....even though Ryan and I didn't get much sleep!  We got over a foot of snow that night (yes, another big snow storm) so we opened the blinds when we woke up and watched the snow fall.  I'm sure we'll be doing this again soon!!!  Can't wait until Mason Man is old enough to join in the fun.

Surprise From Nani & Poppy

Nani and Poppy came to visit us this weekend.  I wasn't sure if they would make it or not because of the big snow storm we got so I didn't say anything to Makena or Mason about it.  It was a BIG SURPRISE when they saw Nani and Poppy walk through the door:)  We had a great weekend playing and Mason got to show them all his new skills since the last time they saw him.  They couldn't believe how much he's changed since Christmas!

Thanks for coming to visit us, Nani and Poppy!  We'll see you in April.  Love you, Makena & Mason

Playing Teacher

Makena takes being a teacher very seriously!  She didn't even want to turn around for a quick picture because I was interrupting class during circle time;)  I usually like to stand right outside the door of whatever room she's in and listen.  It's so cute to hear her say things like "Dora, your nose is running, will you please get up and blow it and come right back to circle time" or "Brown Bunny, it's not nice to push, say you're sorry to Teddy" or "Mr Bear, do you have your listening ears on!"
JUST ANOTHER DAY TEACHING HER CLASS!!!
